I Was A Cloud – Trailer 2 from John Hoye on Vimeo.
Why is Erik Bill so motivated to make videos?
Because they are videos about rollerblading. The films he makes showcase his love for the sport and the lifestyle. Erik has a passion for anything that is our sport and his camera is the outlet for the visualization of that passion to the outside world. His videos speak for themselves. – Joe Taormina
I think it’s because each video is a step-up in his filming, editing, and skating. And everyone else’s skating. – Ty Acuff
His life is rollerblading. – Jay Whitmore
His biggest motivation is his friends. He really wants to show people what his friends can do, and show his fresh style and smooth editing. Erik’s motivation comes from his love of rollerblading and the hard work and dedication that he puts into it. – Nicholas Swan & Courtney
What are the basics of blade lifestyle in Boise?
Rhodes and Fort Boise skateparks are being shredded on a daily basis. It’s getting cold. Film with Ebill. – Ty Acuff
Having a good time with a bunch of friends. – Erik Bill
How many decent spots are there in Boise total?
A lot, and the economic slump is a big help, too. Big businesses become abandoned and we swoop down quick on those opportunities. We’re always making spots and skating new ones since the Boise area is growing very quickly. I always try to get my tricks at places that are more of an “idea” than a spot. – Erik Bill
Plenty depending on the time of day. – Ty AcufF
How did you guys get Bailey to come back after his SF hiatus?
I’m sure we helped a bit, but I think it was mostly his lady, his family, and the fact that Boise is such a great place to call home. His roots are here, you can’t just leave those behind! – Erik Bill
Is the Boise scene more about laying low or coming up? Why is that?
I don’t think that the Boise scene can be described as easily as this question tries. Our blading community is by no means unknown or laying low, but we are not exactly coming up either. Through the exposure and success of Erik’s previous videos and online edits, Boise blading has developed its presence within the sport of rollerblading. We’ve always had a core group of very talented skaters, but it hasn’t been until the last few years that people are getting a chance to see what we’re all about. Erik doesn’t make his videos as a means of taking Boise to the top, but as a means to showcase himself and his friends participating in a sport and lifestyle that we love. If we are coming up in the sport, it’s been a very organic rise, in that none of us have intentionally tried to push Boise into the spotlight, it’s just something that’s happened. – Joe Taormina
I think we’re kind of in our own little world. We have some bladers, some spots, and a camera but we’re not majorly known which is cool either way. I think being involved with any skating projects is sick. If they happen to take us somewhere, then I’d say we’re just naturally “coming up”. – Ty Acuff
Definitely coming up. The blade scene in Boise is bigger than it has been in a really long time. A good majority of the bladers are younger kids that look up to Bailes and Billstro and get juiced off of what they are doing. – Toasted Berry
Who has the best nickname in the Boise scene? What’s the story behind it?
It’s a neck and neck battle between Fetus Phil and WBJ. They both come along with plenty of other titles as well: Fetal-Juice, Fetal-Juice, Fetal-Juice, Womb-Surfer & last but not least The Womb-dweller.
WBJ is known as Weird Blader John, W.Bijan (it’s french), and Warner Brothers John, there’s plenty of expansions off of those as well. Fetus’s story came around when my buddy Taylor and I were skating and came across this 7 year old kid doing back flips and switch-ups. Turns out that 7 year old kid was my same age, 14. Present day, at the ripe age of 21, Fetus still appears to be this 7 year old little ripper. WBJ was born when I met him at Rhodes skatepark. It was simple, he was a blader named John, and I didn’t know him…which was weird. I got his number and put Weird Blader John into my phone and it turns out I couldn’t have picked a more applicable name. Anybody that’s met the dude will tell you that he’s a weirdo. It’s a good thing! They will always be 2 of my homies! – Erik Bill
Who has the most savage dad out of the Boise crew?
Funny that you ask because my dad is the epitome of savage. A couple days before my bday about 3 years ago, my family called me in a crazy panic. My mom came home from work and saw my dad unconcious, covered in blood, passed out on the bathroom floor. I rushed to the e.r. and met them there. For the first time ever, I saw a scared look on my dad’s face. After a couple days of being there, the doctors were able to (kind of) explain to us that my dad’s liver was completely failing, his blood would not stay in his body…and that they weren’t sure if there was anything they could do. They were searching nation-wide to find blood that matched his rare-type. When they finally found something, his body wouldn’t accept it…no matter how they put the blood in, it was being pushed out. A doctor came in to tell us that they had lost him and asked if we would like to make arrangements for a priest. Before I could even begin to find myself, another doctor blasted in saying that he’s back. My dad was back from the dead. NOTHING is more savage than that. Nowadays he chills at home, cracking jokes and collecting disability money. He’s awesome. He also socked a pony in the head when it was eating my sisters hair at a petting zoo…knocked it out! SAVAGE! – Erik Bill
I Was a Cloud?
Weird, so was I. – Erik Bill
9. Best story about Erik Bill?
Two words…butter punching. While filming for “I Was A Cloud”, a few of us took a trip down to SLC for a long weekend. Chris Olpin offered us his place to stay while we were down, so we made his living room our weekend home, while he went and stayed with his girlfriend. Sore and worn out from our first day of skating, we were all beginning to wind down for the night. A few drinks had been consumed and it looked like the end of the night was fast upon us. For whatever reason, someone got a stick of butter out of Chris’ fridge and tossed it in Erik’s direction. Erik balled his fist and punched that butter like a schoolyard bully. For the next thirty minutes or so, butter ws tossed and fists were thrown. It might’ve been one of those “had to be there” stories, but nevertheless, the fact remains; Erik Bill is a butter puncher. – Joe Taormina
Tightest thing about “I Was A Cloud”?
Birth of The NDN – Erik Bill
It is the newest Erik Bill project. – Joe Taormina
The profiles. Cameron Card coming out swinging, Erik Bill killing all the sick spots in Boise, Bailey completely murdering shit, Dan Dickerson holding his own. And so many more amazing bladers all backed by Bill’s sick editing style. It’s going to be a must-see video. – Toasted Berry
We’re all homies. – Ty Acuff

That’ll do Butter Puncher, that’ll do…
Erik bill is an incredible person. He is incredibly mature in that he knows how to run business but yet kid enough to keep things fresh and fun. It truly is a joy to see the boise seen coming into the spotlight. There is real value there.
