How long have you been rollerblading for?

How long have you been making rollerblading films for?

Strictly speaking,I never made any rollerblading films,except Le seans which is more a DIY short blading film beetween
friends.
Before that, I just did some edits or shooting footage for friends who needed footage like sam and anthony from dirtbox
but that’s it.

Do you think robbing people at gunpoint, from an artists perspective, could be considered cool?

The act itself is something visually strong, the gun is something esthetic,especially revolver,
so yes I would say that it could be considered “cool” from an artist perspective.

Who do you look up to as an influence in rollerblading cinematography?

Brandon negrete is one of my main influence in rollerblading cinematography,especially for his filming and the atmosphere
of his films.
To me,he knows how to create a unique context, something harmonic on a whole video in a narrative way.
But also obviously and unconsciously or not, all the videos that I ve watched hundred times each time I was going to skate,
like Hoax series,Dave Paine’s VG series,brian smith’s films, adam johnson’s, carl sturgess’s…has influenced me a lot.

What do you think is cool in rollerblading right now?

I would say skaters who dont take themselves too seriously,who dont skate for fame
and dont try to impress a bunch of people, skaters who just have fun .

Where do you see rollerblading headed in 10 years?

Technicly speaking ,I think rollerblading is about to be steady,so I dont have any idea cause most of the tricks
humanly possible have been done,and limits have been pushed so far those last years so I guess we re going to focus
more and more on lines and style,and culturally speaking, it might get as popular as it was in the mid 90s…cause I believe
all the cultures are made of cycle, and this kind of golden age we have known in the 90s might will reappear but then who knows,
being pessimistic I would say rollerblading will be on olympic games and skaters on steroids?

What other artists and influences do you have outside of rollerblading?

filmmakers like kenneth anger,wes anderson,robert bresson or russ meyer or photographers like
lee friedlander and diane arbus.
