I liked this a lot. But i dont agree with certain aspects.

“This isn’t art, it isn’t business, it’s life.”

Isn't it all three? and can't it be art for one person, business for another and simply a lifestyle for yet a third ?

"as skateboarders do not attempt to understand the city, nor do they try to document it. Skateboarding leaves almost no text to be read; its marks and assaults leave virtually no discernible script for others to translate and comprehend"

I think this is misleading. Today everyone documents everything, via online videos (youtube), pictures (facebook,websites, etc) and blogs. Every moment in a skateboarders life "can" be documented if they wish.

And leaving no "text to be read" .. maybe to a non-skater, but for a skater, when theyre walking down a set of stairs and they see marks down the hand rail or remnants of was on a ledge, they see the history of a skater left behind. A tattoo on the landscape, forever (well for a period of time anyway) that screams out to other skaters, someones has grinded/slid/did a trick on this. How many times have you seen marks or wax on big crazy ledge and thought to yourself "damn, I wonder who did this and what they did"...

Things to ponder.

I am so proud to see how the content prevails above trickery, above us being bladers and them skateboarders, above all there are common things we share as humans. People have an awful tendency to spot the differences and criticize them, when they should really be praised.
Shock, this page is an outstanding way to make rollerbladers more open minded, tolerant and diverse.

Thank you so much.

At USA USA;
grow yourself a right wing moustache and become a polotician or an economist, you will fit in much better.

Great article, its amazing to see a scholarly source that actually was able to capture the experience of skating and how it gives what is considered ordinary such special qualities.

A good read. I actually discoverd things about my self that i did naturally in this post. Like, always subconsciously looking for spots. Never seeing the acutally amazing building the spot is located at. But only the spot itself.
